GoMacro Bars – Healthy Retail Option for Customers

In my quest to healthify the nation, I have made it my personal mission to find companies that offer natural healthy products.  Not only are they good for you, but would make great additions to retail outlets looking to offer better choices for customers.  Email Cortney (cortney@gomacro.com) if you are interested in wholesale options.  (I do not have a sales agreement with them, they just provide me product for events)

GoMacro! This company started off on a little farm in Wisconsin. When the founder was diagnosed with breast cancer she was inspired to follow a macrobiotic diet. The seed was planted for her family business. What is her key ingredient? It is a “sprinkle of hope that bakes into a bigger picture of all of us.”

In a recent blog from the GoMacro site, I discovered a fun recipe, a healthy, gluten free and vegan version of a hazelnut spread (AKA Healthy Nutella).

Chocolate Hazelnut Butter

3 cups hazelnuts

4 ozs dark chocolate (chopped)

4 tablespoons maple syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

A sprinkle of sea salt

Coconut oil as needed

Directions

In a high powered blender or food processor blend hazelnuts until smooth. Add coconut oil as needed.   Melt the chocolate and add it to the hazelnuts with the maple syrup and salt.  Blend until creamy. Many recipes call for toasting and removing the skins of hazelnuts.  I decided to leave them on and to make the more nutritious raw hazelnut butter and I was very happy with the result.  I used a Vitamix and found that I had to add about 2 tablespoons of melted coconut oil.  You can, of course, also use a food processor or a standard blender but it will take a little more time.

Not only is it delicious, but I like that there is meaning and intention behind the company.

From Jola Sonkin’s blog (co-founder):  “Breast Cancer Awareness is a close-to-home cause for my mother and I. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, my mother, Amelia, switched to a macrobiotic diet, eliminating all animal products, gluten and refined sugars; a dietary change which led to the creation of our first “MacroBar” in our home kitchen. Over a decade later, she remains cancer-free and GoMacro has grown into an internationally-distributed plant-based nutrition bar company based upon the principles of her clean-eating, cancer recovery diet.”

GoMacro bars are a quick and filling way to help you get nutrients and they are perfect when you are having one of “those” mornings where you don’t have time to do anything elaborate.  To explore them further visit HERE
