FOR NEW TELEVISION SHOW, NATURAL HEALTH EXPLORER DEBRA K TALKS WITH LEADING WELLNESS EXPERTS TO
UNCOVER THE SECRETS TO HEALTHY AGING.

“Senior Moments” to Premiere in November on PBS

SEPTEMBER 2016 – Boynton Beach, Fla. – In her quest to “healthify” the nation, TV host and natural health explorer Debra K believes there are special places that hold secrets to health and longevity. She knows if she can find them, these places have valuable stories that need to be told. Debra K has found four such places and will tell their stories on “Senior Moments.” Premiering on PBS in November, “Senior Moments” is being presented by Kentucky Educational Television (KET).

The show’s healthy-aging focus is timely as baby boomers continue to hit 65. In 2030, the older population is projected to be 72 million people representing nearly 20 percent of the total U.S. population*. “We have to do something right now to empower and educate our older population to keep them healthy and in their homes for as long as possible,” says Host and Executive Producer Debra K. “’Senior Moments’ will help older adults and their caretakers set a path toward wellness and stop the crisis we are heading toward as our older population begins to pressure our healthcare system.”

Since 2013 when Debra K launched her first show “The Journey into Wellbeing,” she has held  the desire to produce engaging, educational and inspiring content. “I know what I am supposed to do in my lifetime.  I find and share stories about people committed to helping others achieve greater wellbeing. When I do this, there is the potential to change lives,” adds Debra K.

Those life-changing stories for “Senior Moments” include:

  • Deborah Szekely (94) interviewed at Rancho La Puerta, the Mexico-based destination spa she founded in 1940 with her late husband.
  • Tennessee’s Dollywood where 35 percent of the workforce is over 55. Debra did the “Twist” with entertainers and uncovered secrets to employing and enriching the lives of older adults.
  • Helping seniors stay in their homes longer with expert guidance from Hospice of the Bluegrass.
  • Research into staying healthy in the senior years from scientists at the Kogod Center of Aging at the Mayo Clinic. Debra K will also cook up healthy recipes at Mayo Clinic’s Healthy Living Center.

Valuable Partners – “With the show slated for public television, finding partners to help with production costs is extremely important,” adds Debra K. Stepping in as an underwriter is ResortSuite, “ResortSuite Founder & CEO Frank Pitsikalis strongly believes in the vision of the show and helping bring these stories to life.” The International Spa Association is also supporting crew travel costs.
